Academics

Holy Trinity School provides a challenging, comprehensive, and relevant curriculum for each student in accord with the school’s mission and philosophy. Teachers of all grades follow the Archdiocesan Standards and State Curriculum Standards. All subjects are taught with the same high expectations and standards. The teachers assist students as they strive to meet and exceed their grade level expectations. The Schoolwide Learning Expectations provide further guidance in directing the curriculum. The school’s goal is to provide a small learning environment that meets each student’s needs. The academic program is fully accredited by the Western Catholic Education Association and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Curriculum

Students at Holy Trinity receive a solid, sequential, traditional, integrated elementary school education with an emphasis on religion, language arts, and mathematics. Teachers are encouraged to engage students through creative teaching styles, sparking their curiosity and imagination. The curriculum meets the guidelines and requirements set by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Department of Catholic Schools. As a Catholic school our goal is to meet each child where they are and help them develop to their fullest potential, providing both remediation and challenge as needed for maximum growth. Teachers provide individual assistance both during school and after school as needed.  

Spiritual Formation

Holy Trinity School places a priority on religious instruction and formation. Our day begins with community prayer and throughout the day students are provided with many opportunities to learn about their faith and ways to live it out in practical circumstances. Holy Trinity School students learn about the Catholic faith and what it means to live as a Christian in a modern world. Through daily classroom instruction they come to know and understand the Gospel message which they then put into practice in their lives. Students attend Mass weekly in the Church as a student body, and the school sponsors a family Mass one Sunday a month at the 10:30am parish Mass. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is practiced weekly. Students regularly have the opportunity for confession. Formal preparation for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion takes place in 2nd grade.

Homework Club

Students in grades TK – 8 are invited to stay and do homework with us! Homework Club gathers on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:15 – 4:00pm in the Pavilion. There is no charge. Homework Club is supervised by our principal and faculty with assistance from parents and middle school peer tutor volunteers.  
 
If homework is a battle at home - give this a try! No more worries about missing books or supplies - and no excuses about "not understanding" what to do. Let us make your job a little easier.  
 
Parents are still asked to review and initial the homework agenda book each night and ensure that homework has been completed and is located in the "green" homework folder.  

STEP MAP / Inclusion


INCLUSION PROCEDURES: Through the mission of the Los Angeles Archdiocese, HTS strives to serve children with varied learning needs so they may be successful in all aspects of school life. All educators in Archdiocesan schools follow “Directions for the Inclusion Process in Catholic Schools: Support Team Education Plan Process (STEP) and Minor Adjustment Plan Process (MAP).”
 
The initial STEP process involves a school support team that consists of the parents/guardians, the classroom and/or homeroom teacher, the school administrator and/or the STEP team coordinators, other school personnel, and the student, when appropriate. The goal of the team is to gather information and work together to support the student’s educational needs in the classroom. The STEP team reviews report cards, standardized test scores, cumulative records, work samples, discipline records, and other data. The team will use the data to create an individualized action plan to identify your child’s strengths and areas of concern, implement support strategies, identify responsible persons, and schedule timelines for progress.
If the parent disagrees with the outcome of the STEP process and if the information gathered during the STEP process provides evidence that a student has a disability, the parent may request a Minor Adjustment Plan (MAP) under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The process that follows the MAP can be further discussed by the STEP team coordinator.
